11 inches...

after weeks of anticipation and serious thoughts of turning back, i finally took the scissors to the hair. just a haircut you say, but for me i spent most of last night tossing and turning with extreme anxiety. this morning i paced the house waiting for my amazing friends to come pick me up. yes, i had a designated driver for the big event. it took 2 jello shots in the car before i could calm down.

and yes, my frieds are so supportive that they showed up in some fabulous wigs!

you would think i was being carted off to have my head shaved, but it was just a haircut. i can only imagine what they would do if i needed support for something serious. anyway...the cutting went off without a hitch, except for that i have the worst camera known to man! here are a few of the decent documentation shots:

i'm so happy that i was able to do this. not only did i get a great cut, but someone is getting 11 inches of my hair!! it was like a weight was lifted off my shoulders...literally. i want to thank my friends for being so great and getting me tipsy encouraging me today, because they made the experience that much more relaxing and fun.

now...the rest of my day...different story. today was recomittment day for Team in Training , which means it's on like donkey kong now! i spent all morning putting together my paperwork to say i was fully comitted to running 26.2 miles and raising $2,900 for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. WHOA! now it's up to me for the next 2 months to continue my training and not hurt myself in the process....

please don't make me beg...

you would think i have all the time in the world, with as much time i've spent sitting here at the computer messing with my "hair", when i should be doing something more productive (emptying the dishwasher, laundry, fixing dinner, or cleaning up a million legos!) but next week is the big haircutting day! i'm starting to bite my nails i'm so nervous. okay, scratch that, i'm just going to eat another brownie. i don't know why it's such a big deal to get a haircut, but for me it's like buying a house or choosing your child's name. this is a big deal! i guess i will feel a little comfort knowing that my hair will be making someone else very happy. did you know it can cost as much as $1,800 to make a wig?! thanks to people like Locks of Love and Pantene, women and children, suffering from hair loss due to illness or cancer, are able to have a beautiful flowing mane again. so, as part of my fundraising (Team in Training)  i'm donating my hair to the cause.

when i say i've been sitting at the computer for hours, i'm not lying! i've been trying to figure out what i'm going to do with my hair once it's gone. i posted a while ago with a couple ideas, but i think i have it narrowed down to this one:

not the best picture, but even after hours of cyber styling, i couldn't get it to look like "me".  now for the part where i start to beg. i will admit fundraising for this marathon has proved to be a little more dificult than i had anticipated, but i have hope that things will work out in the end. i still have 2 more months to raise the remaining $2,000. i was hoping that by haircut day i would have raised a little more, but with only a week away, let's just say it's not the goal i was hoping for. dudes, this is a great cause and all the money donated is tax deductible. think about it, and think about my hair next week...bye bye long shiny locks...

spring break...

if it wasn't for the fact that we were spending time with my sister, this would have been the crappiest spring break ever. when you think of "spring break", you think sunshine and warmer weather, but it did nothing but rain and stay below 50 degrees the entire week. even today, the first official day of spring, it dropped to 35 degrees and started snowing!!

so, we decided months ago that we would make the 12 hour drive to my sister's for spring break, and it actually wasn't that bad of a drive. minus the 50 million stops along the way, 12 hours is pretty good time. we spent the first day just relaxing (E and i went to a movie - during the day!) and then the next day we made the hour or so drive to NASA! the boys were super thrilled to see actual space ships.

we also celebrated Nolan and Miller's (my nephew) 2nd birthday (they just happen to be 2 days apart). it was a busy week, and unfortunately we brought our sick with us when we came and my poor sister came down with strep throat.

after a week at my sister's, we made the 12 hour trip back home, and to the kids surprise GaGa and Papa EJ were waiting for them at our house. not sure who was more excited, me or the kids. we now have the weekend to relax before going back to school on monday...

just a 2 year check-up...

big boy went in for his 2 year check-up yesterday and surprsingly only grew another inch (now 34.25 inches), but i was not shocked that he didn't gain any weight. dude does not eat! yes, his diet consists of fruit chews, apple juice, and the occasional donut. it's not for lack of trying, because i know he loves anything green, broccoli, avocado, green beans,  & edamame, but he just won't eat.

he's such a trooper. when it came time for his booster shot he just looked at me with this WTF face and said "oush", and that was it. not a single tear, and then it was off to lunch with Daddy followed with a milkshake...
