we like chikin yes we du....
today is Cow Appreciation Day, which means FREE CHICKEN!! and by free i mean we went to Chick-fil-a and ordered our usual (3 kids meals and a #7 with sweet tea) and i didn't even open my wallet. this only happens once a year, so, if you're reading this and wondering how to get your free chicken...gonna have to wait till next summer. of course the place is a mad house, but the kids love it! i think i love it more that i can take my kids out to lunch for free, but that's just me. oh, but wait...there's a catch to getting the free food. in order to enjoy a full table full of goodies for zilch, you have to dress in your best cow attire. for us it's just a shirt and some homemade signs, but it works. (starting to wonder why the homeless aren't in on this idea)

independence day...
other than Thanksgiving, the 4th of July has got to be one of the best holidays. it's the most stress free holiday we have, no worries for finding the perfect gift, who cares what you wear, and there's plenty of eating and drinking all day. although, the 4yo kept asking why there were no presents at the birthday party, because we explained to him that the 4th of July was America's 234th birthday...still confused when we put him to bed at 11pm!
what kind of summer BBQ wouldn't be complete without baked beans?! thanks to my mother-in-law i have a great no leftovers recipe (but no pictures because beans are not pretty to look at and they were all gone):
GaGa'a Noise Makers
1 pound ground beef
1 lg onion
1 red bell pepper
1 green bell pepper
can of pinto beans
giant can of plain baked beans
bottle of your favorite bbq sauce
ketchup
brown the meat (drain) and continue cooking with the onions and peppers. mix the meat and beans together in a big baking dish. stir in the bbq sauce and a couple squirts of ketchup. cover with foil and bake at 375 for about 45 minutes. ENJOY!!
Jess, made us some Watermelon Margaritas, but unfortunately those were gone in less than 30 minutes, so no pictures of those either. hopefully she'll be posting on K is for Kitchen later today...

getting lazy...
i promise i'll come up with something catchy to talk about, but i've just gotten so damn lazy. i did have to post that i made dinner tonight and for the first time in over 2 weeks did not have anything left to put away in tupperware (to sit in the fridge and grow disgusting green hairy blobs). my kids ate every stinking last bite! i'm not saying that every kid will eat what i prepared, but mine did and it's a freaking miracle! i should have taken a picture, but it was honestly gone so fast i didn't have time to find the camera. i'll have to make the dish again just so i can post a pretty picture along with the recipe. trust me, it was super easy and actually pretty cheap (shrimp was on sale today). you're probably wondering what i made...i call it Shrimp & Lemon Pasta. it's a variation of something i've had in the past, but since i didn't have the recipe, i just threw some stuff together and it turned out fabulously. like i said before, i will post "my" recipe later. i promise to update when i get a chance...
